Work and Related Experience
- Adjunct Fine Arts Professor. Saint Joseph’s University. Fall 2012-present.
- Courses I teach include Painting I, Drawing I, Drawing II (Independent Study) and Painting IV (Independent Study). These courses involve hands-on studio art instruction, exposure to a variety of methods and techniques, critiques, and lectures on art history, contemporary art, and art theory. Each semester, students exhibit their work on campus and attend field trips. My students also participate in the annual Philadelphia Orchestra College Art Night Exhibition at the Kimmel Center. Each semester, I involve my students in service projects.
- In 2012, I organized the Art Department’s first Career Night, which included speakers who were professionals in the field, alumni, and professors. Students received handouts on careers in the art and design field, the Career Development center, where to find job listings, and information about the speakers’ career paths. They were able to ask the speakers questions and talk with them one on one.
- Study Abroad Trip Coordinator. Trip to Italy for a Renaissance Art and Architecture Course. Saint Joseph’s University. May 2015. Gave a tour to students in the Vatican Museum. Responsible for coordinating a trip for 17 students to Rome, Florence, Venice and several small towns in Italy. Helped students with the logistics of the trip such as transportation, hotels, meals, taking tours of various locations. Advised students on their Renaissance Art projects.

- Currently I teach an Introduction to Fine Arts course that involves lectures on art history, criticism, contemporary art, and hands-on studio art instruction. Students develop their ability to analyze and critique works of art through discussions, essays, a museum visit, and a final paper.

- I manage a large department budget, supervise and mentor eight work study students, supervise the maintenance of four buildings, order the department’s art supplies and equipment, coordinate the hiring new faculty and staff, hire/schedule models, and assist the faculty and staff. I also assist the university gallery and student gallery.

- As a substitute art teacher in the School District of Jenkintown, I worked with students in the combined middle/high school. The classes I taught there involved hands-on studio art instruction, exposure to a variety of methods and techniques, and critiques. The classes also included lectures on art history, contemporary art, and art theory. Students who were taking advanced level classes in art worked on developing their own body of work and researched issues in contemporary art.

- This is a studio course where students make paintings in class starting with a still life for the first painting. Then students develop their own subject matter to paint for the rest of the semester. Students expand their visual experience and gain a better understanding of the medium. Students push the formal and conceptual sides of their work through practice and critiques.
- Teacher Assistant, Graduate Drawing into Sculpture Course, Pratt Institute: Summer 2010.
- This is a studio course that challenges traditional ideas of drawing and sculpture. Through studio visits, critiques, presentations, gallery and museum trips students explore the connections and possibilities between drawing and sculpture. The formal and conceptual are discussed in critiques. Work is done outside of class unless a group project is done.
- Pierogi Gallery Intern, Brooklyn, NY: 2010.
- Duties included entering and maintaining the catalogue of artwork in the Flat Files, moving and packaging pieces of art, assisting with installations and de-installations, handling correspondence between artists, collectors and curators and gaining thorough knowledge of each exhibit in order to answer questions from visitors to the gallery.

- This course familiarized undergraduate and graduate students with many kinds of painting materials, tools, and processes. Students used this knowledge to create works of art, and a group project on environmental sustainability in relation to art materials.

- Art Teacher, Ancillae-Assumpta Academy, Wyncote, PA, 19095: August 2007-June 2008.
- At Ancillae-Assumpta Academy, I taught pre-K through 8th grade art full-time. I worked with approximately 600 students per week in the art department, which had two full-time teachers and three part-time teachers. I also taught an after school painting class. The art department worked on the school play throughout the year. We designed and built sets, made costumes and props, and attended dress rehearsals. Students studied painting, drawing, art history, photography, digital art, ceramics, sculpture, and environmental sculpture. The students had their work displayed throughout the school each month and there was a large student art exhibition during the spring.

- Duties: Responsible for creating a budget and obtaining funding for the League. Making sure students have the funds they need to put on shows, open studios, attend conferences, and have speakers. Helping with organizing events and meetings.
- Founder, Women of Pratt Artists’ Group. 2009-2010.
- This group is intended to carry on the tradition of an intergenerational dialog between women artists that was first begun by artists like Nancy Spero at A.I.R. Gallery. The group hopes to break down some of the barriers between staff, faculty, and students. Any Pratt Institute staff member, faculty member, or student who considers themselves an artist and a woman is encouraged to join.

- Duties: Restarted the jazz band; obtained funding; found a director; found an advisor; purchased and organized sheet music and equipment; emailed the group; organized practices and concerts; advertised; recruited members; organized performances at a 76ers NBA game, The Inglis House, campus events and concerts
